Indian Head resident Jordan Enoch Gantlin, 23, was stopped by a patrol officer from the sheriff's office in the area of Ignatius Drive and Heritage Place in Waldorf when the investigator noticed the registration plates on the vehicle were suspended.
At the time the stop was initiated, officials noted that there was a pick-up order from the Maryland DMW to recover the tags.
While speaking with Gantlin during the subsequent stop, it was determined that he did not have a driver's license, and a semi-automatic was spotted in plain view between the driver's seat and center console, according to investigators.
The handgun - which was fully loaded - was recovered, and Gantlin was apprehended without incident.
Gantlin was charged with:
- Illegally transporting a firearm;
- Possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle;
- Multiple traffic violations.
Gantlin was released from the Charles County Detention Center on Sunday, Aug. 20 and scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
